We recently discovered the same gravel like substance as well. When we removed the access panel and we were shocked to see daylight as the fender was totally eroded by contact with tires.

The tires were worn as well and the furnace duct was worn and some of the wiring and the gas grill connect hose. Several other 2109S Forest River Mini Lite campers that were in the campground had the same exact problem! When we contacted our dealer they seem shocked by the news. Forest River said that we overloaded the unit and since it was out of warranty, there was nothing that they would do.

We did ask they ship replacement fenders to us which they did. We then went to a very qualified RV repair shop and they discovered that the axle was under rated for the weight of the unit. We have two 2200 pound axle with a dry weight of 3876. According to the label we should be able to load 998 pounds of cargo.

I don't know who does the math for Forest River but that does not add up. We have always been very cautious about our cargo weight and we are absolutely sure that we have never exceeded the 998 pound cargo weight regardless of how adamant Forest River is that we did. The repair shop contacted Forest River to no avail as they will not own up to a very serious design flaw which is extremely dangerous. If there was a recall on this problem, Forest River is certainly not owning up to it.

We are very discouraged by the lack of concern for not only us but every other owner of there product. We are at own expense upgrading the axle to 3500, replacing the gas line, furnace connection and fenders.

We may be adding a extender kit (authorized by Forest River) if the axle upgrade does not raise the unit hight enough for adequate tire clearance.

Reason of review: Damaged or defective.

Monetary Loss: $2100.

Preferred solution: Full refund.
