Forest River Travel Trailer Review

I have had nothing but trouble with my camper. I have took it piece by piece back to the dealership we bought it from. I'm sick of this. Now the refrigerator won't work

Forest River, Wildcat, Worst RV Mistake we EVER made!

Bought new 2011 Wildcat TT. 30 BHS, I cannot begin to to tell you of the trouble we have had, and are still finding with this RV!

The 1st year, Black mold, had warranty work done! But, they never adjusted the slides, so 3 years late, rotted floors and bubbles(mold) under the wall board. Because they never looked for the leak when they did the warranty work. They only replaced the moldy wood in the bed frame.

There was a 1/4 gap top to bottom. Basically, was told from FR, "Sucks to be you right now". Also, this past week, found that the screws on the outdoor kitchen had NO SEALANT from the FACTORY!!!! SO, another rotted floor in the kitchen!

SO, after we tear it down 1/2 way and rebuild, we should be ok. Oh, and put an awning over it, as its stationary in a Campground.

At least that will stop the water. I will not recommend any product they build to anyone I know.

2006 Wildcat - they just won't last the distance

My previous caravan was an old Vicount near 40 years old when sold, still no structural problems, we up graded to a 29ft Wildcat thought is was great on the outside, but we have had to have a new rear wall fitted $11,000 worth due to poor water proofing. Divan is too heavy for the floor of the slider and leg has punched a whole in the floor, why instead of good quality ply it was cheap ply wrapped in plastic. Then we come to what the eye cannot see, the storage bins have limitations because of untidy plumbing. It is easy to cover poor quality materials and workmanship but it eventually come to the fore. Think twice before you by Forest River products

Weak #3 on a scale of 1 to 5 design and construction

2013 Rockwood 2516 G Popup Tent Pros: Layout is fine for a large group (up to 7 adults) although privacy in the privy will suffer. Nice light cooking area, adequate appliances like a fridge that works on electric or gas Cons: Poor to incomplete construction. Hard to set up and harder to store tent. Screws to all the hinges tend to vibrate out, damaging the storage doors. Low or no quality control on this unit could have miss the myriad of defects found by the customer. None of which was readily recognizable until the unit was used a few times. The list is too large to enumerate here. WARRANTY ISSUES! Too huge to discuss here. I am posting them to Yelp at a later date. My qualifications for this review includes 40 years world wide field engineering, college degrees in communications, law and design engineering of electronics, heavy equipment and construction.

2012 Forest River Blue Ridge Review from Langston, Alabama

Poor engineering. You placed a plastic flow control valve on the hot water heater outlet. Then you used some sort of glue. Did you not think this cheap plastic piece would ever fail. Threads are broken off inside WH outlet. It cannot be removed. So instead of replacing a 7.00 part, I have to spend about 800.00 for a new water heater. I have a 2012 Blueridge. I won't buy another Forrest River. ,They are junk.

Jack and slides not working.

Tried to level our 5th wheel and nothing would work, jacks or slides. We called our dealer and was told to contact Forest River. We did and the service was the best ever!!! A young man by the of Bob( 860-798-**** phone number we called) was the answer to our problem. He took the time to find out what the problem was and was able to solve it for us by phone. Thank you so very much. It was so nice not to get a run around but someone that knew what they were doing. We love our camper and understand that problems happen and just need to be able to have people like Bob that can help. Bob and Nancy Amell

Berber carpet failure

On a South Bay pontoon bought in 2009 and always stored indoors, why is the Berber carpet turning black? Was this the wrong product to use on a boat? It was a large investment and hope there is a remedy. The boat is always covered while docked. There is no way to keep the outer deck dry while in use. The problem seems to be growing. I noticed some other manufacturers have stopped using carpet on outer decks. It may look good in the showroom but looks rather shabby tied to a pier. I am looking forward to a response. Hope you can.

Forrest River poor quality control and customer service..

We purchased a used 5th wheel 36' 2006 Sand Piper in 2008. Shortly after I discovered the roof had a leak somewhere. I contacted Forest River who instructed me to take it to a local authorized dealer. The deal found a pinhole in the FACTORY caulking told me cabinets, refrig. etc had to be remover to replace rotten wood. Forest River said they would cover parts. Labor $3,200.00.. I agreed to pay the labor, the campers rear skin is pulled off the next day and I see the bad wood next they where to remove the interior to make repairs.. The VERY next day im told its ready?so I pay the bill take it home and inspect the work.,. Just as I expected none of the interior was removed to make repairs they just repaired what they could access through the pantry. I immediately called the dealer got a song and dance was offered a small refund for the work that was not done. I accepted the refund swearing to never deal with forest river or Demontrond Rv again..

I am going through the same thing here in Austin. Bought at 2013 Class C from Ancira in San Antonio.

Within a couple of Months found a leak in the roof that damaged the wood above the bed over the cab. Shame on me, I did not climb up while they were doing the work to make sure it was done. 11 months later all the caulking they applied has broke away and now have even more damage. Forest River saying my fault (and I will have to agree I listened to the service advisor when he said I should have the roof inspected annually) I did not read the entire owners manual.

Roof to be inspected TWICE a year.

And since that wasn't done they are trying to figure out if they will cover.

201 V-Lite less than a year old. Ceiling tape bubbling and separating from ceiling.

Took trailer to dealer. He says Forrest River used some bad adhesive on the ceiling. The ceiling which is tape (wallpaper coating) is bubbling and separating from the ceiling. They say the recommendation from the factory is to heat it with a hair dryer causing the adhesive to become sticky and re stick it to the ceiling. They say I am not the first to bring a trailer back with this issue. They tried this on another trailer and where not pleased with outcome. I traded in a 2010 Jayco that I never had these kind of issues with. I will be more careful to follow the reviews with the next trailer.

Black and Grey water tank levels not accurate

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have had my Surveyor 240SP back at the dealer four times for this same issue, finally talked to the factory rep, said that tank levels are correct just need to clean tanks. As soon as you use the tanks as intended (waste and grey water) their accuracy goes to ***.

Dumped the black water tank, still shows 2/3 full. Grey water shows full after very little use. I am tired of my wife yelling about grey water coming up into the shower. I would prefer the tank level indicator showing a full tank than my wife.

Fed up with the response from dealer and Forest River. I like most everything else about my trailer but I could never recommend a forest river product to anyone else.

Very common problem on RV's...Forest River isn't alone on this one

Our tanks were labeled incorrectly. Try dumping one at a time when full then checking which shows empty. I feel your pain.

Forest River - Demo Model Review from Lorne, Victoria County

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Have to agree - we bought one of the first demo models in aust. The indexer had our eye on sold and we had to travel interstate to get the only other one in aust - sight unseen! What a mistake. For a demo is was pathetic - everything is askew - the lights melted the covers. The poor workmanship has to be seen to be believed!!! Everything fell to bits!!!! Cheap materials - thin ply stapled into nothing!!! Roof leaked. Grey and black water outlets labelled wrongly!!!! That caused a stir when we let our grey water go!!! *** everywhere. All in all a shithouse caravan - no wonder we don't see any others in aust!!! Did our dough - cost $70,000 - nothing but trouble and disappointment!! What a sham and what a lemon - can't even get parts - had to have the roof redone as it leaked $2500 extra just throwing good money after bad! Rip off

Forest River Rv Review

We have had our new camper since February. It is now July and has spent half its time in the shop. Extremely poor quality and workmanship. Thought I did my homework before purchasing a new fifth wheel but apparently I did not. At this point we are moving towards trying to get the company to buy the camper back.
