We ordered a brand new 2014 Georgetown 378XL and took delivery from Cold Springs RV in Weare NH in late May 2013. We immediately noted undisclosed damage to the outside in several area's, missing parts under slide rooms, poor application of the fiberglass roof (rippled) refrigerator (household) not working, stairs broken and many more areas of damage throughout the interior and exterior.
It appears to have been repaint a few times in different places.
The dealer was terrible to work with. They never returned calls and put the blame on Forest River. We contacted FR directly and at least wanted the most pressing issues resolved immediately Refridge, stairs and slide-rooms.
After many conversations the manufacturer finally shipped a new refridge from the factory and was installed by a local RV repair facility. This took at least 4 weeks to resolve. The stairs were shipped as well and we thought we may be able to use the coach at least once before the season was ended. The season ended and we put a total of 150 miles on the coach before having to wintering.
Continuation of complaints were left unanswered by the dealer. A registered letter sent to FR was left unanswered for several weeks. Phone calls and emails passed off to other personnel... Results?
Eventually we are talking to warranty service and have been offered a total of 2 thousand dollars to allow them to bring it back to the factory and repaint the coach again (third or fourth time). Now, mileage for the trip is over 2500 miles... we own the thing and they want us to allow them to put mileage on our coach and most importantly allow them to paint it again! Screwed it up first time, second time and possibly the third time.
We are not feeling confident that it would be done right. We got an estimate and the paint repair would cost approx. 7,000. OK - all of the back-and-forth takes time, $$$ and our coach out of our hands.
We are relocating to FLA shortly and when we explained the circumstances to FR, we were told that was not their problem as the RV is not considered a residence. We continue to have a brand new coach with significant body dents and damage to the full body paint, slide rooms that hangup and move when travelling, as well as many other issues. Stuck with nowhere to go but the legal route. Any suggestions are appreciated!
