We purchased our first trailer, a Forest River Salem Ultra-Lite in September of 2016 from a non-local, in state, dealership and were told we could have it serviced at any Forest River dealership and that the trailer has a one year, factory warrenty on materials and service. We also purchased the extended warrenty coverage.
After having our trailer for three weeks, having taken two outings with it, we realized there were items which were not functioning or were not properly installed, so we made an appointment with the local dealership to have the work done. The appointment was scheduled for October 4, 2016 to fix loose light & crooked light switch covers, reglue/attach loose ceiling and floor moldings, reattach metal molding to end of murphy bed, repair the fresh water, grey, and black tank sensors (did not work), correct problem-when filling the fresh water tank the water "squirted" back out of the fill hole (dealer said need to lower tank because there is a kink in the hose), and the shower stall surround is loose all around the top and bottom (water can get behind surround). After waiting a week for corporate's OKAY for dealer make repairs (to learn if all is covered under factory warrenty-DUH 2017 trailer-why question?), nothing has been done yet!!!! Today, November 11, 2016, the trailer is still sitting in the dealership's lot awaiting paneling for behind the improperly factory installed shower wall and to complete work on other items.
We were told the parts take approximately 14 working days to arrive, and would arrive at the dealership on November 7, 2016; today, November 10, 2016, the parts still have not arrived. The plan was to have the repairs done and take the unit out at least one more time before winterizing to see if everything was working correctly and the repairs were done. At this rate, we will probably not know until spring the status of the repairs, and who knows, maybe we will need to take it back and wait several more weeks before work is completed-warrenty will be expired almost before we get to use the unit. Now we are looking at the problem of the trailer not being winterized and we cannot get it off of the lot (told service manager we wanted to pick it up to winterize it but when we got there it was parked in by other units and the dealership was closed).
So, we have owned this trailer 3 months, and have not been able to use it for the last 4 1/2 weeks. Seriously this is a BIG problem and apparently corporate's customer service doesn't care.... not a priorty....at the bottom of their list!
POOOOORRRRRR at best.
